Cryosurgery is a popular treatment for simple skin lesion that can be
performed by physicians and veterinarians, in-office. The Bovie
® Freezpoint™
is a safe, simple, and exceptionally cold device, which delivers an
improved, low-cost per procedure, cryosurgical option when compared to
other products available. The Freezpoint device application is able to
reach -89° C, and is up to 62% colder than common multi-use disposable
systems. The colder temperature may provide a more effective application
compared to the higher temperature produced by applicator based
systems. The slim tip design aids in clear visualization of the lesion
for precise delivery of non-flammable, nitrous oxide therapy, with
reduced tissue damage to surrounding healthy skin.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Is it meant to be used all in one day? It’s entirely up to the healthcare professional. If the healthcare professional is treating multiple patients with multiple lesions, then yes. It’s based on the amount of cryogen in the cylinder and therefore on treatment seconds.
- Can this be stored for long periods of time with the same expected lifecycle? Once activated, we would expect the healthcare profession to use the device within 6 months but there is no requirement. There is no expiration dating because it’s based on the amount of spray time. Once activated, the cylinder is pierced and there is minimal gas loss based on the studies we have performed.
- If it can be stored, what is the proper storage method? Ambient Room Temp, keep away from direct sunlight or heat sources and do not expose to or store at temperatures in excess of 50C.
- 16 Gram Device (Treatment up to 30 times; each treatment takes a minimum of 5 seconds depending on the type of indication)
